SWITCHING / QUESTION 01

The number stays with you

A practical explanation to read before you act.

A PAC is the instruction used when changing UK mobile provider while retaining a number. For one line, text PAC to 65075 from the existing SIM. Read the reply for the code, its expiry and any relevant leaving information. Give a valid code to the receiving provider; a code request alone is not a completed transfer.
LOOK CLOSER

What to establish first

Record the old service, the new service and the transfer date. Keep both SIMs accessible until calls and messages reach the intended line. Update account recovery details if the number is also used for verification.

THE NEXT STEP

Keep the distinction clear

A PAC lasts 30 days. Ofcom says the receiving provider must normally complete the switch within one working day. Multi-number accounts can require an online or telephone request. In most cases a number can still be transferred within one month after cancellation; contact the former provider promptly.
