01

A little background

EE grew from the combination of the Orange and T-Mobile UK businesses. It introduced its EE brand in 2012 and joined BT Group in 2016. Older customer paperwork can therefore use names and product structures that differ from today’s website.

02

SIMs, phones and monthly arrangements

EE’s catalogue includes phone, SIM and connected-device arrangements. Record whether a feature belongs to the mobile plan, the handset payment or an optional benefit. Check the minimum period and the written treatment of any future adjustment before changing the service.

03

PAYG and renewal: check the model

EE publishes PAYG conditions for several products, including data-focused options. Identify the product before reading top-up or renewal instructions. A travel data eSIM is not automatically equivalent to an ordinary UK voice line with calls and texts.

04

The physical or digital SIM

EE provides a download-and-use eSIM guide. Device support and the eligible service matter more than the general eSIM label. If transferring to another phone, follow the current EE journey and retain access to the existing account until the new profile works.

05

The billing conversation

For EE, start with the statement date and the line it describes. Mark the regular service, any device component and optional activity separately. If an item is unclear, ask for its period, category and supporting explanation. Use EE app and online account through the genuine provider site. Keep a written reference rather than relying on memory of a call.

06

A number move is its own task

If moving a single UK number away from EE, the general PAC route is to text PAC to 65075. Review the expiry and leaving information, then give a valid code to the next provider. A multi-number account may need an online or telephone request. For a legacy service or a non-mobile product, establish the correct process first. Read our number-transfer guide for the full distinction.

07

Reception needs a location

BT Group is background context, not a guarantee of reception in a particular building. Check EE’s current coverage and disruption information. Record the affected function, phone, location and time if use repeatedly fails. Authorised technical investigation stays with the provider; our team cannot alter a line.

08

Travel and international use

Travel rules vary by agreement and any selected roaming feature. Check the country, call destination, data allowance and any activation requirement. A UK plan’s allowance cannot on its own establish the treatment of usage on a foreign network.

09

Home internet and connected equipment

EE has both mobile and home connectivity products. Fixed broadband, cellular backup and mobile data are separate technical arrangements. Check what is supplied at the address and what continues if a linked service ends.

10

Upgrading, leaving and future changes

Keep the contract summary for the exact EE service. Before a change, ask whether the term restarts, a device obligation continues or a linked benefit ends. Read any scheduled annual adjustment and its effective date in the agreement. Confirm which subscriptions survive a cancellation, and review the last statement after the service ends.
