SWITCHING / QUESTION 02
When you want a different number
A practical explanation to read before you act.
A STAC is for a switch where the existing mobile number is not being kept. For one line, text STAC to 75075. Use the current provider’s official process for an account with several numbers. Check the information returned before handing the code to the next provider.
LOOK CLOSER
What to establish first
Make sure the old number is no longer needed for bank verification, email recovery or important contacts. Change those recovery routes before the line ends. Requesting a new number and retaining an old one are different intentions.
THE NEXT STEP
Keep the distinction clear
The code is time-limited and must be submitted to the receiving provider. Outstanding device obligations or an early ending charge can remain relevant. Keep the final account statement and ask the provider about anything still active.
